Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern the relationship between you (the learner, purchaser, or website visitor) and EcoEconomics Academy with respect to access to our website, courses, training services, and consultancy engagements. By enrolling on a course, purchasing a service, or using our website you accept these terms. If you are entering into the agreement on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms. Where a separate written agreement exists between your organisation and EcoEconomics Academy, that agreement takes precedence over these terms to the extent of any inconsistency. We recommend you review the full policy set, including our Privacy Policy at /privacy/ which explains how we handle personal data.
Scope of Services and Enrolment
EcoEconomics Academy provides public courses, certificate tracks, bespoke corporate training, and advisory services. Course descriptions, schedules, and learning outcomes are published on our website and in course materials. Enrolment is confirmed once we receive payment or a written purchase order from a contracting organisation and provide you with a confirmation email. For corporate and bespoke services we agree a scope of work and deliverables in writing. We reserve the right to refuse enrolment where information provided is incomplete or where admission criteria are not met. We aim to deliver services as published but may adjust dates or instructors for operational reasons; where significant changes are required we will notify enrolled participants and offer alternatives or refunds in accordance with the payment and refund policy below.
Fees, Payment and Refunds
Course fees and service prices are quoted in British pounds sterling unless otherwise stated. Payment is due as set out on the booking page or in the invoice for corporate engagements. We accept card payments and bank transfers. All fees quoted exclude any applicable taxes which will be added where required by law. For public courses, cancellations made by a learner more than 14 days before the course start date will be refunded minus a small administration charge where fees were already processed. Cancellations within 14 days may receive partial credit, depending on course type and supplier commitments. For bespoke corporate engagements, cancellation terms are specified in the proposal and may include non-refundable deposits to cover preparation costs. If EcoEconomics Academy cancels a course or service, we will offer a full refund or transfer to an alternative date at your option. For clarity, fees for certification administration, examination or late resit may be charged separately where applicable.
Intellectual Property and Use of Materials
All course materials, content, slide decks, recordings, case studies and templates provided by EcoEconomics Academy are the intellectual property of EcoEconomics Academy or its licensors. Registered learners are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use materials for personal and internal organisational use only, and not for redistribution, resale, or publication. You must not copy, modify, create derivative works, or commercialise our materials without our prior written permission. Where participants create original project work during a course, ownership of that work remains with the participant or their employer unless otherwise agreed in writing; however EcoEconomics Academy may request anonymised examples for teaching and marketing, which we will only use with explicit consent. Any third-party materials included in courses are used under licence and reproduce the original rights notices where required.
Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EcoEconomics Academy's liability in connection with any course, service or use of the website is limited to direct losses and capped at the total fees paid by you for the relevant course or service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special or punitive damages, lost profits, or business interruption. Course content is for educational purposes and does not constitute financial, legal or regulatory advice. Participants are responsible for verifying applicability of any methods or recommendations in their specific context. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Data Protection and Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy at /privacy/. By using our services you acknowledge the processing activities described there and consent to those uses where required. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data and retain data only for as long as necessary for service delivery, accounting, and legal compliance. Participants should not share personal data about third parties without lawful basis or consent. For data subject rights and privacy enquiries contact [email protected].
Termination and Suspension
We may suspend or terminate access to courses or services where a participant breaches these Terms, engages in misconduct, or fails to pay fees. We will provide notice where practicable and allow remedial action for minor breaches. Upon termination, any licences granted to use course materials will end and you must delete or destroy copies as instructed. Termination does not affect accrued rights or remedies available to either party for events arising before termination.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. For disagreements arising from these Terms we will first seek to resolve issues by good-faith discussion between the parties. If a resolution is not reached within a reasonable period, disputes may be referred to the courts of England and Wales. Where you are a consumer, nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights under local law. For corporate clients we recommend agreeing dispute resolution steps in the project proposal where alternative arrangements are required.
